Mercury Vehicle Solutions Ltd, trading as Car Leasing Online, is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) for credit-related regulated activities. We are a credit broker, not a lender. FCA registration: 654819.

Why we publish this

Following the Court of Appeal judgments in Hopcraft v Close Brothers Limited and the linked Wrench case (2024), the FCA has reaffirmed that motor finance brokers must disclose commission clearly, prominently, and before any agreement is entered into. This page sets out how we are paid and how that is disclosed to you.

We will be paid a commission

When a finance agreement that we arrange for you commences, we will be paid a commission by the funder. This is how we earn most of our income. We do not separately charge customer fees unless this is clearly stated to you in writing in advance.

You should assume on every quote we send you that we will be paid a commission unless we tell you otherwise.

In some cases the rate or terms offered to you can be influenced by the commission arrangement applying to the deal. Where this is the case, the £ amount of the commission is shown to you on the quote we send you, before you decide whether to accept the agreement.

We do not use any commission arrangement where our commission increases the higher the interest rate we offer you (a "discretionary commission arrangement"). Such arrangements were banned by the FCA for motor finance in January 2021.

What you will see on your quote

Every personal quote we issue includes:

  • The £ amount of commission we will receive from the funder for arranging the agreement
  • A link to this Commission Disclosure page so you can read how commission works
  • Confirmation, in your quote acceptance, that you have read and understood this disclosure

Where you have a business contract hire quote, commission may be disclosed differently — please ask your account manager.

Other financial considerations

In addition to standard commission, we may also receive:

  • Volume-related bonuses or incentive payments from funders for the volume of agreements arranged
  • Marketing or promotional contributions from funders or manufacturers for specific offers
  • Fee contributions from funders or manufacturers where they directly s
